The Good News Review had the opportunity to interview Mr. Robin Toal, Online Development Manager for APOPO who are responsible for the incredible HeroRats TGNR reported on last July .  In the interview we were introduced to APOPO’s unique Valentine’s Day fundraising campaign, as well as future directions of the HeroRats program.  We also  discussed the greater mission of the HeroRats, and learned about the amazing heroes behind the front lines…

Somewhere the spirit and fire of Diana, Princess of Wales is absolutely glowing, as her work to remove forgotten land mines is being ingeniously realized. A Belgian NGO called APOPO is securing acres of land from mines and other un-exploded ordinances (UXOs) using specifically trained “HeroRats”. Not only have these HeroRats been immensely effective in their mission, their casualty rate is zero.

Now Open In St. Peter’s Square: Barbershop For The Homeless

Located near the Bernini Colonnade in St. Peter’s Square, Rome, you will find volunteers ready to provide free shaves and haircuts for those men and women in need.  In addition, nearby showers have been installed and are open to Rome’s homeless for free – all sponsored by Pope Francis and conceived by Archbishop Konrad Krajewski, the official Papal Almsgiver.
