A Lost Felix Mendelssohn Rediscovered!

A work by composer Felix Mendelssohn, missing for over 150 years, has been found!  It was located in a private collection in the United States.  The song titled “The Heart of Man is Like a Mine” was a private commission for the artist’s friend, according to NPR.  The text is inspired by Friedrich Rückert’s poem Das Unveränderliche (The Immutable).  The Royal College of Music’s singer Amy Williamson and pianist Christopher Glynn performed the piece for the BBC and you can listen to it on thr link below:
