It’s The Great Pumpkin, California!

This year’s Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-off winner not only took the first place ribbon but also broke the tourney’s record.  The champion pumpkin weighed in at 2,058 pounds and was grown by Napa Valley resident John Hawkley.  Remarkably, he had two pumpkins in his patch weighing over two thousand pounds.  His secret?  This growing season’s warm weather.
